Dieticians & Nutritionists

OA is a self supporting global fellowship many of our members have experienced long term recovery, from: anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, overeating, over exercising, emotional eating and freedom from food and body obsession.  Using the 12-step recovery program, OA members support each other in , often breaking the isolation associated with compulsive food behaviors.

In OA we have a Tool, a “plan of eating” that helps us abstain from compulsive eating, guides us in our dietary decisions, and defines what, when, how, where, and why we eat. This Tool helps us deal with the physical aspects of our disease and achieve physical recovery.

In OA we all eat differently so our Plans of Eating are different. Some foods do trigger compulsive eating and for some it does not.

Where Do I Start-Everything a Newcomer Needs to Know from oa.org gives an overview for a Newcomer. Within that document is Defining a New Way of Eating   may shed some light on how  OA members approach their Recovery Tools; A Plan of Eating.

We understand how practising  healthy eating plays an important part in your overall physical health.  OA has proved to be a workable solution for thousands who have struggled.

We do not endorsed any certain plans, However we do encourage members if they need help with their plan to consult a professional.

As a Dietitian/Nutritionist, we ask:
Do you see  patients who may need a diet change for their health that may be  struggling and are having difficulty following a plan of care you have prescribed? Do they happen to share with you of their lack of willpower or struggle with sugar consumption, or following a healthy food plan?  If they do, would you be willing to share with them about OA and how it may help?
