Media/Community: Resources

Welcome to the Media / Community Resource Center of Overeaters Anonymous Virtual Region, where we provide resources to raise awareness about our program. This section includes tools such as radio and TV Public Service Announcements (PSAs), opportunities to request interviews,  community speakers, and general information for sharing within communities.

Our Mission and Principles

At OA Virtual Region, we respect the anonymity and autonomy of all members, which is in line with our traditions. Our purpose is to carry the message of recovery to those who still suffer.

We encourage the sharing of information about OA with individuals who may benefit, their families, and the broader community while maintaining the same anonymity principles as other 12-step fellowships. No names, faces, or personal details are ever shared publicly.

How We Share Information

Overeaters Anonymous (OA) provides materials, information, and access to members available to speak about the program. We believe that sharing this information benefits those suffering from food-related challenges and body image issues, and we are committed to making it available to the community at large.

By sharing our resources, we aim to reach individuals in need, their families, and those in positions to connect them with supportive solutions.

Radio & TV PSAs

Our professionally created Public Service Announcements are designed to raise awareness about OA’s mission. These resources can be shared on radio, TV, or digital platforms to inform the general public about how OA can help those struggling with compulsive eating. [Download PSAs Here]

Request an Interview

We are available to discuss OA and its programs through interviews, strictly adhering to our anonymity traditions. When speaking to the press, radio, TV, and other media, we do not disclose names, faces, or personal details, ensuring the focus remains on the program and its message of recovery. [Request an Interview]

We do have members who are available to speak to professional organizations, houses of worship, college classes, campus faculty and organizations, hospital staff, patient groups, workplaces, and community organisms.

Why This Matters

Here’s the updated version with the revised first paragraph:

How We Share Information

Overeaters Anonymous (OA) provides materials, information, and access to members who are available to speak about the program. We believe that sharing this information benefits those suffering from challenges related to food, compulsive overeating, food and body image obsession, and the many other disorders we address, such as binge eating, purging, anorexia, bulimia, overexercising, and body dysmorphia. We are committed to making these resources available to the community at large.

Our resources are designed to inform:

  • Individuals Who Are Unaware of OA: For those who may be struggling with compulsive eating or compulsive food behaviors, we aim to share information that can help them address their challenges for health, mental health, spiritual well-being, and, most importantly, recovery.

  • Friends and Family: OA materials can provide support and understanding to those who have loved ones suffering from compulsive eating or related behaviors.

  • Community Leaders: OA resources can help raise awareness in local organizations, events, and public forums.

  • Medical and Mental Health Professionals: OA offers a safe, anonymous program that complements traditional wellness approaches, which professionals can share with their patients and clients.

  • Clergy: Information about OA may provide spiritual and practical support for parishioners seeking help.
  • College Campuses: OA materials can be made available to students dealing with food-related challenges in an academic setting.

By sharing our resources, we hope to reach individuals who are unaware of our program but need it personally, as well as their loved ones and those in positions to connect them with supportive solutions. Our goal is to make recovery accessible to anyone who may benefit from it.
